Dear Culinary Colleague
Invitation to participate in the 2011 International Secondary Schools Culinary Challenge
It is with pleasure that the Australian Culinary Federation Queensland (ACF Qld), the Economic Development Branch of the Gold Coast City Council (GCCC), Taipei Kai‐Ping Culinary School, Taiwan CHEF’S Federation and the Taipei City Council invite a team of high school culinary students from your city to participate in the 2011 International Secondary Schools Culinary Challenge (ISSCC) to be held at Kai‐Ping Culinary School in Taipei (Taiwan) from 19 September 2011 to 24 September 2011.Now in its seventh year, the challenge will be hosted by the Taipei City Council in partnership with the Taipei Kai‐Ping Culinary School. Competitors from Kai‐Ping Culinary School won the competition in 2008 but chose to defer hosting the event until 2011. ACF Qld offers this competition as being offshore every second year, returning to be hosted by the ACF Qld on the Gold Coast on the alternate years. The winning team has first option to host the competition in their country.
If that country chooses not to do so, first option will go to the second placed team, if they decline, then the hosting country will be put up to tender.
The 2011 ISSCC will enable young culinary students to engage in cultural exchanges whilst expanding their professional and personal development in their field of hospitality studies. This engagement with neighboring countries will also contribute to enhancing their future career prospects. The ACF Qld would therefore like to extend an invitation for one team of two students from a hospitality school from your Country to compete in the 2011 ISSCC. The 2011 ISSCC will be open to 16 teams from the Asia Pacific region.
A registration fee of US$250 per participant or US$500 per team will be required for the 2011 ISSCC. All in‐country costs including accommodation with youth hotels, transfers, 5‐day educational programs, tours and ingredients for the competition, will be the responsibility of Taipei Kai‐Ping Culinary School and the Taipei City Council. The participants will however, be responsible for their airfares, registration fee and miscellaneous expenses
To participate in the 2011 ISSCC, please submit your registration form to ACF Qld by fax +61755818466 and please provide full fees (US$500 per team) to TAIPEI KAI‐PING CULINARY SCHOOL by Monday June 13th, 2011.
Please find enclosed a draft program, registration form and criteria for the competition.
